Many FREE anti-virus software has outperformed almost all paid for versions (such as Nortons and McAfee) so instead of renewing your paid subscription every year save your money and grab yourself Avast Home Edition. It requires activation via their website here.
I personally recommend AVAST (I specialise in computer security) as it is simple to use and always updates itself every few days.
Other FREE Anti-Virus products I recommend are:

Dont pay for 0870 numbers

Stop paying for costly 0870 numbers by checking out if the company you are calling have an alternative free (0800) or local rate number using www.saynoto0870.com
Many people don't realise that there are many phone providers offering cheaper calls to standard telephone numbers (those beginning with 01, 02 or 03), which don't apply to 0844, 0845, 0870 or 0871 telephone numbers. - Please see the links page and click on Cheapest Call Provider for price details. This shows that by using multiple providers, you can reduce your call cost on standard telephone numbers to as little as 5p fixed cost (regardless of duration), whereas the cheapest provider to 0870 numbers during the day that I am aware of charges 5p/min (+ 7p connection fee) to call.
Email For Life

You no doubt already have an email address. However, what you may not know is that if your email address was given to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) you are at risk of losing your email address and all your email messages when the time comes to switch to an alternative or cheaper ISP.
If you do have to change your email address then there is also the inconvenience of emailing everyone in your contacts list with your new email address, then updating your contact details for every site you have registered with (such as eBay, Amazon, FreeSecrets etc....).
The best way to combat this is to use an email address from a supplier that does not supply your internet access*. There are so many to choose from I narrowed down the list to my top five favourites that are in my opinion the better ones available.
1 - GoogleMail (known as Gmail outside the UK).
2 - Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail (previously known as MSN or Hotmail)
3 - Yahoo Mail
4 - Mail.com
5 - Your own domain i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (this is not free but can be very cheap see Domain Names)
*There are exceptions to this rule such as BT Yahoo.
